Barrow Wight by Lordstevie Barrow Wight by Lordstevie
Wights are ancient warriors burried in burial mounds and cairns, together with all their war gear. Whean chieftains died some of their battlevrothers whould commit ritual suicide and be burried with their chief so that they whould defend him even in death.

Wight litterly means "being" and comes from old Norse Veattir, wich could be applied to almost everything, from trolls, humans and gods alike. Its further complicated that Veattir later became vättar wich is its own type of being in old norse folk lore. a Vätter is basicly a small goblin or gnome like being that lived under the floor of houses. Most famous Barrow-wights are th eones from Lotr and Tolkien took the word from Grettir Saga and theya re more like old norse Draugr. theres also an old celtic being similar to barrow wights, but instead of a ghost it was a type of fearie.
